Hello all, my name is Sebastian Mugford. I'm a winemaker and artist (I guess) from South Australia releasing my first vintage - 2022.  I made 3 wines, 2 different approaches to Coonawarra Nebbiolo (Sebbiolo 1 and 2) and a Flaxman Valley Syrah.

 

I didn't really know what I had got myself in for when I was presented with the opportunity to make wine, but the experience has taught me a lot about the sciences of viticulture and wine making, as well as revealing a fascinating side quest through drawing and painting.

The process of making my first wines has shown me the satisfaction that can be derived from expressing creativity in multiple different avenues of life. I have discovered that an important part of the creative process is making mistakes along the way, hence the photo on the home page of this website and the inspiration for the label of Sebbiolo 1. The next 2 steps are just as important; learn and try again.

Another important part of all this has been developing an appreciation for making wine and art, it cannot be made by one person alone, and gains its meaning and depth from the layers connection that are embedded in the process of creation.
