Naimanya Syrah
The Naimanya Syrah is made from exceptional fruit grown by Christa and Leon Deans in the Flaxman Valley sub-region of the Eden Valley. Sitting at 550m above sea level the resulting cooler climate moves the character of the wine from red to blue fruits compared to the Barossa Valley floor. Prominent flavours are blueberries, blackberries, creamy gorgonzola, star anise, black olive, pepper. Being 100% whole bunch is has medium to high tannin structure and a smooth acid profile.
This fruit and wine had a special birth in that 6 people living in the same house all made wine from the Naimanya vineyard in 2022, offering a learning experience in the subtle differences that are imparted by particular peoples hands and minds on wine. The label for this wine was painted using oils and is based off the view we looked at every night as the sun set.
%13.7 alcohol, $35 a bottle, 342 bottles produced.
The dedication for this wine is for friendship and forgiveness, both of which I'm still learning about and am constantly surprised by the depth of both. My favorite poem is 'friendship' by David Whyte, check it out.
